SOBRE TUDO SOBRE NADA / ANYTHING AND ALL
Documentary, 2018, 82’
SINOPSIS
Love found and love lost, families that start to disappear and families yet to build, memories that become diluted and things impossible to forget, the sea of Portugal, the lakes of Berlin, the burden of a shared colonial past in a trip beyond the comfort zone, new houses, new endings, new lives, demonstrations, games of basketball, solitude and friendship. Everything that life is made of, everything we carry with us, everything we leave behind. SOBRE TUDO SOBRE NADA records for the future in a format of the past. Shot in Super 8 between 2010 and 2018, in Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Guinea-Bissau, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, it takes us in a meandering biographical journey through some of the author’s memories, as days go back to normal and emotions start to wane. The film opens with the cyclical return to the beach of Guincho, not far from Lisbon, where the author used to go with his father, and that has now turned into a ritual of sorts to acknowledge his loss. And it is also about those little rituals we make for ourselves to remind us of our own history that this film is about. Remembering, reexamining, reinterpreting, trying to understand, from the distance, what was already so visible in the horizon of the past.
