Based in Lisbon.
Born in Lisbon in 1978, he studied jazz and classical guitar, piano and attended numerous workshops and master classes in instrument, composition, recording and programming, including, among others, the Jazz School of the Hot Club de Portugal. He founded several rock, folk and experimental bands, such as Lupanar, Desdobrável, Tochapestana and Shorthand for Distance. Since 2000, he has worked as a composer for theatre, dance, films, radio plays, installations and video art, having worked, among others, with Jana Matejkova, Mário Gomes, Marta Leite, Reynold Reynolds, Jonas Römming, Nina Bendzko, Antonia Gronau, Maynou & Steele, João Dias Estudio and Pedro André. He has lived in Berlin since 2006, where he was a founding member of the Gneisenau64 project (Berlin, 2008/2009), as a composer, sound designer, sound engineer and director. He co-founded the cultural space Altes Finanzamt (Berlin, 2010-2015), being responsible for film and music programming among other things. In cinema, he has worked with several directors as composer, sound-designer and sound engineer, namely with Susana de Sousa Dias and Ansgar Schaefer in Jorney in to the Sun, with Catarina Laranjeiro and Daniel Barroca in Fire in the Mud (in production), with Gonçalo Tocha in Balaou, É na Terra é na Lua, Torres & Cometas, and Filipa César in Regulado, Uma Cabana, Luta ca caba inda, Conakry, Cuba and Transmission from the Liberated Zones. In 2018, he made his first feature film Sobre Tudo Sobre Nada, which premiered in Locarno, in the competitive section Signs of Life. He has a degree in Portuguese Language and Culture at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. He did his Master in Sound Studies at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin (UDK).
